Meet the speakers for our event on tackling disinformation
We’re excited to introduce you to the speakers for our event on March 4th at 6pm in Old Street. The event will dive into the vital work being done to counter harmful disinformation, particularly for marginalised communities.
We’ll hear from three experienced campaigners—Joe Mulhall and Yasamin Alttahir and our own co-founder Nat Whalley —who are doing groundbreaking work in these fields.
Our Speakers:
Joe Mulhall
Joe is the Director of Research at Hope Not Hate, an organisation dedicated to countering the far-right and promoting social cohesion. With a focus on disinformation, Joe has been instrumental in identifying and challenging harmful narratives online, particularly those that fuel hate and division. He will be sharing his insights on how digital platforms are manipulated by extremist groups and what we can do to protect our communities from the spread of dangerous ideologies.
Yasamin Alttahir
Yasamin is a digital engagement expert who has worked with Stonewall to advocate for the rights of LGBTQ+ people in the digital space. She brings extensive experience in creating impactful campaigns and using digital tools to advance equality and inclusion. Yasamin will discuss the growing importance of digital spaces for the LGBTQ+ community and the ways in which we can ensure these spaces remain safe, inclusive, and empowering.
Nat Whalley
Nat is a digital campaigner, strategist, and early adopter of technology dedicated to shifting power structures and enabling collective action. She co-founded Organise, a platform empowering millions of workers with the tools, network, and confidence to improve their working lives. As Co-founder and Director at Movement, Nat supports progressive campaigns across the globe by offering cutting-edge communication and organising solutions.
